At BrilliantRead Media, we always strive to bring meaningful and powerful stories from India and around the world to empower and motivate our growing community. As part of this endeavour, we invited Mahima Jain for an exclusive interview with us. Mahima is a NLP Practitioner, Coach, Mentor, Speaker and an Influencer. Let’s learn more about her background, journey and her advice for our community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Mahima:
Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?
My journey has been a blend of corporate rigour, academic learning, and a deep dive into self-discovery. I began my career in finance with Deloitte, where I worked for six years and gained valuable exposure to business, strategy, and leadership. Yet, I felt a calling beyond numbers — the human mind and its limitless potential fascinated me.
This inner pull led me to pursue a Postgraduate Diploma in Child Psychology & Development. Alongside, I immersed myself in timeless spiritual wisdom, particularly from the Bhagavad Gita, and complemented it with modern tools like Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).
Today, as an NLP Practitioner and content creator under YOUniverse with Mahima, I integrate psychology, spirituality, and practical mindset strategies to help people transform their inner world so they can thrive in the outer world.
How did you discover your passion?
My passion revealed itself in layers. Every stage of my journey — from corporate life to academic psychology to content creation — taught me something about what truly lights me up. I realised that while I was good at finance, my heart was in helping people unlock their potential.
Through psychology, I found a scientific foundation. Through the Gita, I found timeless wisdom. And through NLP, I found practical tools for change. The intersection of these worlds became my passion: guiding people to understand themselves better, align with their inner strengths, and create a life filled with clarity, confidence, and joy.
Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?
For me, challenges are reminders that growth lies outside the comfort zone. What keeps me going is my faith in the principle of Karma Yoga from the Gita — focusing on my actions without attachment to immediate results.
When things get tough, I remind myself why I started: to bring light, healing, and clarity into people’s lives. The messages I receive from individuals saying, “Your content shifted my perspective,” or “Your words gave me strength today,” are enough to fuel me through obstacles. I believe that every setback is simply a redirection by the Universe toward something greater.
What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?
1) Self-transformation is the foundation of impact – You cannot change the world unless you first change yourself.
2) Patience and consistency create miracles – Just like the bamboo tree that shows no growth for years and then suddenly shoots up, real growth often happens silently before it becomes visible.
3) Faith is stronger than fear – The Gita taught me that clarity of purpose and surrender to the higher plan can move mountains that fear can never cross.
In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
For me, success isn’t just about achievements — it’s about alignment. The keys I live by are:
> Self-awareness and emotional mastery
> Taking consistent, massive action aligned with values
> A growth mindset fueled by curiosity
> The ability to reframe setbacks as stepping stones
> And most importantly, a spirit of contribution — because true success lies in how much light you bring into others’ lives.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
Don’t chase someone else’s definition of success — create your own. Explore widely, experiment with courage, and allow yourself to fail forward.
Invest in developing not just technical skills, but also your mindset, emotional intelligence, and self-discipline. Learn to manage your inner world, because external achievements will always reflect your internal state.
And remember: the earlier you start aligning your career with your values and strengths, the more fulfilling your journey becomes.
Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?
What excites me the most is witnessing transformation — in myself and in others. When someone messages me saying my reel gave them hope, or my words helped them make a better choice, I feel immense gratitude.
My journey is also exciting because it constantly evolves. From corporate finance to psychology, from being a student to becoming a guide, from consuming wisdom to sharing it — each phase has brought new meaning.
The satisfaction comes from knowing that I’m living my dharma: helping people connect with their higher selves and design lives filled with purpose, peace, and prosperity.
